Description

Eppendorf 5810R with A-4-62 rotor

Eppendorf centrifuges are of the more popular models that we carry, and the Eppendorf 5810R centrifuge is particularly in demand. The Eppendorf 5810R with A-4-62 rotor is a compact, low-profile unit designed for use in biotechnology, pharmaceutical and clinical chemistry laboratories. It can spin at low to high speeds and can be used in a wide variety of applications.

Eppendorf 5810R benchtop centrifuge – features

  • Speed range up to 14,000 rpm
  • Max RCF: 20,800 x g
  • 4 x 500mL capacity
  • Includes A-4-62 rotor and buckets
  • 90 day warranty

The Eppendorf 5810R is compatible with five different rotors and can spin microtubes, PCR strips, 15mL concial tubes, cryotubes, deepwell and standard microplates, blood collection tubes, and much more. An automatic rotor ID system recognizes rotor type. The Eppendorf 5810R allows for 35 program spaces for user-defined settings and comes programmed with ten different acceleration and braking ramps.

This unit includes an A-4-62 rotor with buckets. Eppendorf A-4-62 Swinging Bucket Rotor accommodates tubes and bottles from 0.2 mL to 250 mL. 4,400 rpm. See below for specifications.

Users can set chamber temperatures from -9C to 40oC. The FastTemp function to start a temperature control run without samples to adjust the rotor chamber quickly to the set target temperature. Continuous cooling also maintains the temperature in the rotor chamber with the centrifuge lid closed. A built-in condensation drain eliminates water accumulation and prevent corrosion.

Please note that there are two versions of the Eppendorf 5810R currently in wide use. Depending on the rotor you are planning to use you may need a particular serial number/vintage. Please call or email us for details.

Eppendorf 5810R with A-4-62 rotor testing

Most of our equipment is used and reconditioned. Our technicians test the performance of all centrifuges and make sure the rotating assembly is properly balanced; the bearings, seals and gaskets on the spindle assembly are in good shape; and the controls work properly.

If the centrifuge is refrigerated we also test to make sure that the machine reaches and hold temperature properly. All tolerances are measured and the exterior and interior of all units are fully cleaned. If the unit is being purchased with a rotor we test the rotor/centrifuge combination together.

Eppendorf 5810R Refrigerated Centrifuge with A-4-62 Rotor frequently asked questions

What is the A-4-62 rotor used for?

The A-4-62 swing-bucket rotor is designed for medium-speed centrifugation of larger tubes, bottles, and plates. It can accommodate vessels from 0.2 mL microtubes up to 250 mL bottles, making it ideal for cell culture work, blood tubes, and general laboratory processing. The Eppendorf 5810R and A-4-62 rotor combination is commonly used for:

  • 15 mL and 50 mL conical tubes
  • Blood collection tubes
  • Microplates or deep-well plates
  • Medium-volume bottles for cell culture or buffers

What is the maximum speed and g-force with the A-4-62 rotor?

With the A-4-62 rotor installed, the Eppendorf 5810R can reach:

  • Maximum speed: 4,000 rpm
  • Maximum centrifugal force: approximately 3,220 × g

Higher speeds (up to 14,000 rpm) are achievable with other compatible fixed-angle rotors designed for smaller tubes. (Generally speaking, fixed angle rotors are designed for high speed applications while swinging bucket rotors are designed for higher capacity.) If you’d prefer to pair the Eppendorf 5810R with a different rotor please contact our sales team for pricing and availability of additional rotor options.

What temperature range does the refrigerated centrifuge support?

The refrigerated system allows precise temperature control from −9 °C to +40 °C, helping protect temperature-sensitive samples during centrifugation.

Refrigeration is necessary if you are going to use the Eppendorf 5810R centrifuge for any of the following applications:

·         Protein purification

·         Enzyme work

·         Cell pelleting

·         Nucleic acid preparationHow many programs can be stored?

The Eppendorf 5810R centrifuge can store up to 35 user-defined programs, allowing users to save frequently used protocols with specific speed, time, and temperature settings. So basically, you can access a programmed run with a few simple button pushes. This is a convenient feature that is a real time saver while simplifying routine workflows and ensures repeatability between runs.
