Panasonic Healthcare High Performance Biomedical Freezers are designed for short- or intermediate-term storage at temperatures as low as -30°C. Constructed with high performance laboratory and clinical grade refrigeration systems, these freezers are used in medical, biotechnology and industrial labs for storage of blood components, enzymes, culture media, reagents, specimens and vaccines.

The MDF-U731M-PA -30°C Upright, high-performance medical freezer was designed with the features to give superior uniformity, microprocessor control and large storage capacity. Two access ports, casters, remote alarm contacts and security features are included as standard features.

Most of our equipment is used and reconditioned. Our technicians use calibrated digital chart recorders to verify the accuracy of temperature controls and readouts of all ultralow freezers, making sure that the units hold temperature to within the manufacturer specified tolerance. We replace any hardware or parts as is necessary and if needed replace refrigerant. We clean all freezers thoroughly prior to shipment.

Q: What’s the difference between a Panasonic MDF-U731M, a Sanyo MDF-U731M, and a PHCBi MDF-U731M freezer?

A: Essentially nothing. The design, functionality and operation are all the same. Panasonic bought Sanyo, and then Panasonic decided to rebrand its biomedical division as PHCbi. So they are all the same company and all represent the same commitment to quality and design.

Q: What’s the advantage in a lab of a manual defrost vs. auto defrost freezer?

A: Auto defrost freezers are easier to operate but do tend to show greater temperature fluctuations; these occur during the defrost cycle and are intended to avoid frost build-up. Manual defrost freezers keep a tighter temperature stability, so are considered a better option for particularly temperature-sensitive samples. On the other hand, many labs prefer auto defrost freezers because they are lower maintenance and still provide reliable operation.

Q: Do you repair Panasonic MDF-U731M, a Sanyo MDF-U731M, and a PHCBi MDF-U731M freezers?

A: We do! We can offer either/both field service or depot repair services for all of your laboratory cold storage equipment, depending on your location. Our technicians are trained and EPA certified. The advantage of field work is that you don’t have to move the freezer; the drawback is that for more than a single visit the travel time starts to add up quickly, plus we may not be able to make any repairs that involve brazing or hot work at your facility (i.e. compressor replacement, leak sealer, refrigerant charge, etc.). With depot repair we’re able to work on the unit in our shop and monitor it for an extended period of time after the repair to make sure it’s working properly.
